Qualifying for Bright Futures
While it is tempting to write a lengthy blog post with a fluffed-up word count to appear more informed than is actually necessary, the following graphic sums up the most important information I have about qualifying for Bright Futures:

Notably, there are two levels of Bright Futures: Florida Academic Scholars (FAS), which covers 100% of tuition, and Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS), which covers 75% of tuition.
✅ Parent/Student Checklist (Key Deadlines):
• Track GPA each semester (3.0 FMS / 3.5 FAS)
• Track coursework (subject-specific credits)
• Complete volunteer or work hours (75 FMS / 100 FAS) with signed documentation
• Take SAT/ACT early and often (goal scores: 1210+ / 1340+)
• File FAFSA (opens October senior year)
• File Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) (Dec–graduation year)
• Confirm hours & GPA officially logged with school by spring of senior year • Monitor OSFA student portal for award notification
